Fiber Art by Carola creates one-of-a-kind wearable art rooted in Indigenous Geechee knowledge, transforming cloth into a vessel for story, resilience, memory, and cultural continuity. Each piece invites the wearer into a living tradition that honors the past while speaking to the present.

Hand-Dyed Scarves & Shawls for Ceremony, Comfort, and Everyday Beauty | Explore one-of-a-kind hand-dyed silk head wraps & Pow Wow Dance scarves, indigo medicine head rags, and Indigenous honor shawls and blankets. Plant and animal fibers naturally dyed with indigo, madder, marigold, turmeric, onion skins, and/or cochineal. All "Binding Up The Blues" and dye traditions use ancestral Indigenous Southeastern Woodlands and Gullah Geechee techniques.

I create handmade objects that carry memory, love, grief, and hope.
Carola Jones is an Indigenous mixed-media fiber artist, educator, and community teaching artist whose work reconnects people with ancestral textile traditions and land-based creative practices. Drawing on Tuscarora, Seminole, and Geechee Gullah cultural heritage, her workshops explore the healing and storytelling power of handwork through stitching, natural dyeing, quilting, and fiber arts rooted in relationships with land and memory. She is a fifth-generation practitioner of indigo, natural dyeing, sewing, and quilting.With more than 25 years of experience in digital media and arts education, Carola blends traditional craft knowledge with contemporary teaching methods that engage both youth and adults. She regularly leads community workshops, after-school STEAM textile programs, and cultural skill-sharing events that emphasize sustainability, creativity, and intergenerational learning.Her studio practice and teaching approach align with gatherings, where participants come together to learn earth-centered skills, share ancestral knowledge, and build resilient communities connected to nature. 🔻🔻🔻 Watch Slideshow Below 🔻🔻🔻

Fiber Art by Carola STUDIO is the place where the backstory lives, the source of inspiration behind everything I create. It’s where ideas are rooted, stories are remembered, and textiles are transformed by my hands in honor of DJ, Mis’ Minnie, Myyat (Mat Randolph), her mother, Mary, Grand Mere, Ma, Mammy, Fawn (Mis’ Anne), and Fatima.From October 1 through December 21, 2026, my studio becomes more than a place to see and purchase art. It becomes a gathering place for sharing the lessons carried forward from my childhood on Daniel Hill and in East Wilson: lessons learned from my mother, grandmothers, godmother, and other ancestors who taught me to make something beautiful and useful with what was already in our hands.Visit the Stitching Culture Studio in the historic Mercy Hospital building, where artist Carola Jones creates one-of-a-kind medicine cloth inspired by Indigenous Geechee traditions.
